GMI Health Trainers FAQ
- Who are GMI Health Trainers?
GMI Health Trainers are trained and accredited to work with gay men and other MSM to help them discuss and address a range of issues related to their sexual health.
- Where can I see one?
GMI Health Trainers work all across London. They can meet you one-to-one at any of their offices (Stepney Green, Vauxhall, Hounslow, and Greenwich), or at a location that is convenient for you. They are also regularly present in clinics, bars, clubs, saunas, special events (like Pride) and other venues all across London. Feel free to drop by and meet us!
- Do I need to have serious sexual health concerns to see a GMI Health Trainer?
No, your questions, concerns or issues do not have to be of a serious nature. In fact, if they are serious medical issues involved, you should likely see a medical professional and we would be happy to help you find an appropriate service that can address it. Otherwise we welcome the opportunity to talk to you about whatever sexual health issues matter to you.
- Will it cost me anything to see a GMI Health Trainer?
No, all GMI Partnership services are free of charge.
- Will what I tell a GMI Health Trainer remain confidential?
Yes, GMI Health Trainers are bound by confidentiality rules, and all your information is securely handled and stored. We only collect contact information when you agree that follow-up work with you or referrals onto other services would be beneficial.
- What information does a GMI Health Trainer need from me?
If we do ask for contact information, in order to follow-up with you at a later date, or to refer you to other services you feel would help, then all we need is your name, telephone number and email address. A mailing address will be needed if we needed to send you some information by post.
- Can a GMI Health Trainer help get physically active?
GMI Health Trainers are not physical health trainers. However, if we can help point you in the direction of other types of health services, we will!
- I'm interested! What do I do?
If you have already spoken to one of our support workers and completed the paperwork to join the programme then just wait to be contacted within the next few days. Otherwise email Health Trainer, or telephone 020 7791 9318 to arrange an informal chat and to begin the process of joining the programme. We look forward to having you on board!
- Would a GMI Health Trainer see me at my home?
Unfortunately not. GMI Health Trainers can see you in a number and variety of places across all of London, including commercial gay venues (bars, clubs, etc.), at special events throughout the year, and by appointment at locations in all areas of London. Check out the calendar on our website or contact us to make an appointment.
If you have mobility or other issues which make it impossible or difficult for you to access our services, let us know and we will see what we can do to refer you to an organisation that can make home visits.
